QatarDebate Organizes 2nd Qatari Universities Debate League in English

Doha, December 02 (QNA) - QatarDebate Center (QDC), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, organized the second Qatar Universities Debate League in English, via visual communication technology, with the participation of 16 teams from five universities. Sixteen arbitrators participated in strong competitions between the participating teams from the universities such as "Qatar University, Georgetown, Weill Cornell Medicine, Texas A&M, and Stenden. The teams debated on three issues, first, "Reducing the minimum safety and efficacy standards required for approval of treatments and vaccines in times of epidemics" such as measures to leave safety testing in the medium and long term, accepting drugs that have not yet shown better results compared to current treatments, and to allow more powerful side effects than those usually allowed. The second issue was the role of governments in giving priority to policies that focus on cultural pluralism. While the third issue was about what are known as 'protest leaders' against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Nigeria and the need for them to form a political party based on youth. The event was concluded with the announcement of the winning teams, where Weill Cornell Medicine came first, followed by Georgetown University, and the best spokesperson for the league was student Ahmed Al Meer from Weill Cornell Medicine.
