Doha, July 17 (QNA) - The State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan agreed to form a joint committee to follow up on the implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to provide 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanian youth in Qatar. HE Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, said in a joint press conference on Tuesday with HE Jordan's Minister of Labor, Sameer Saeed Murad, that based on the wise directives of HH the Amir to provide 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanian youth in Qatar, it has been agreed today to form a joint committee between both ministries to follow up on the implementation of the directives. The joint committee will provide a database to facilitate the process for private and public entities in Qatar to choose a candidate that meets their needs and wishes to work in Qatar, HE the minister added. HE Al Nuaimi said the meeting also touched on the nature of the job opportunities available in Qatar and the different sectors that have the capacity to welcome Jordanian youth who wish to work in Qatar, including health, education, finance, insurance, services, construction, agriculture, animal resources. HE the minister said the mission of the committee is to coordinate, follow up and ease the obstacles that may face jobseekers in Jordan and it will also establish a database that will be accessible for business owners to browse those who wish to work in the country. He expected to provide 1,000 jobs for Jordanian youth till September through the coordination and cooperation of the committee, before intensifying efforts in the following phase to provide other jobs according to the wishes of jobseekers and the needs of employers. HE Al Nuaimi highlighted that the agreed employment process of Jordanian youth rules out third parties in order for the process to run smoothly for jobseekers. For his part, HE the Jordanian minister of labor said that this kind gesture is no stranger to Qatar and HH the Amir and is highly valued and appreciated. He described the relations between both countries to be good and fruitful. HE Murad added that the meeting with HE Al Nuaimi focused on the appropriate steps to implement the directives of HH the Amir to provide 10,000 jobs for Jordanian youth. He said that the committee would follow up closely and help overcome any obstacles that may arise. HE the Jordanian minister said that 1,000 people will be employed starting now until September, adding that a comprehensive database will be built to include all jobseekers in Jordan in order to make it easier for employers in Qatar to learn about the available specialties and qualifications. He added that available job opportunities in Qatar will be in the public and private sectors and cover the different health, educational, financial, and insurance and construction industries. "We are talking about scientific, specialized, technical and engineering job opportunities," the minister said, adding that there will be a focus on 2022 World Cup projects and the specialties that they require. HE Murad reaffirmed the keenness of both sides on a transparent and clear mechanism of employment between the two ministries so that no third party would exploit the needs of jobseekers. "We want the Jordanian youth to find their jobs without being exploited in anyway by a third party." In addition, HE the Jordanian minister said the two ministries of labor will not intervene in the recruitment of employees, with the matter being decided by employers. "We will only provide the personnel, while the employers will make the decision to choose among applicants based on the qualifications, experience and employer needs." Asked about the timeframe for concluding the process of filling the 10,000 jobs, the Jordanian minister said that it is not associated with a specific time, but it was agreed between the two countries to provide at least 1,000 jobs in the next two months, with the remaining ones filled as soon as possible. HE Murad pointed out that the Jordanian Ministry of Labor will be the platform to receive Jordanian youth seeking jobs in the State of Qatar. He warned against resorting to any other parties regarding these jobs. "We will announce everything in a transparent and clear manner for everyone," he said. The Jordanian minister said the Qatari initiative will have a positive effect on reducing unemployment in Jordan, which stands now at 18.5 percent, noting that the government is working hard to provide appropriate job opportunities for all Jordanians.
