Qatari Legendary Songs Musician Abdulaziz Nasser Al Obaidan Dies

Doha, July 22 (QNA) - The Qatari legendary songs musician Abdulaziz Nasser Al Obaidan died today, at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with illness . The late musician Abdulaziz Nasser Al Obaidan was the composer of the national anthem of Qatar. In 1966 he founded the Al Adwa "lights" band as the first troupe of the theater and music with a group of gifted youth in Doha , where he was only 14 years . Al Obaidan had a remarkable role in the establishment of music and singing monitoring section at Qatar Radio in 1968. He graduated from the Higher Institute for Arab Music in Cairo with honors in 1977, and served as Comptroller General of the music and the singing of the General Authority for Radio and Television since 1980. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Music in Qatar and, and represented Qatar in the membership of the Executive Council in the Arab Society of Music. A collection of his lyrical and musical albums were recorded published. Al Obaidan was awarded numerous prizes including the Golden Opera Prize in special Oscars for opera and classical singing ceremony in Doha 2014. (QNA)
