Qatari Newspapers Denounce Abu Dhabi's Ongoing Human Rights Violations

Doha, January 15 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers denounced Monday Abu Dhabi's political extortion and involvement in ongoing and unlimited human rights violations whether with its people or with nationals of other countries, referring to the announcement of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani yesterday that the authorities in Abu Dhabi detained him after he had been invited by its crown prince Mohammed in Zayed. In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that the announcement of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani's detention reaffirm that the UAE practices bullying and political extortion, and it is not strange after it had held before the Egyptian politician Ahmed Shafiq. The Qatari daily referred to the statement of HE Spokesperson of Qatar's Foreign Ministry Lulua Al Khater in which she underlined that the State of Qatar is closely monitoring the situation though it is difficult to clearly establish the circumstances surrounding the situation. Despite that, the State of Qatar principally stands with the protection of rights for every individual and affirms the entitlement of his family to pursue all legal means for the protection of his rights. The announcement of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali exposes the UAE, and asserts that Qatar is neither of its policy nor the ethics of its leadership to do such behaviors, unlike the UAE and Saudi Arabia which always search for "prisoners" to employ them when needed, and use them in foreign political files. This also asserted that Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali and others are only hostages used by Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to achieve malicious political goals who will be held against their will when they refuse to obey, Al-Raya said. For its part, Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq said that Abu Dhabi's detention of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani represents a gross violation of human rights. Once again, Abu Dhabi affirmed its continued involvement in human rights violations that are not limited, whether with its people or with nationalities of other countries. It is proving its delinquency to provoke chaos in the region, unaware of the relations of brotherhood and neighborhood, or the international laws, Al-Sharq said. The paper shed light on the video in which Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani announced its detention in Abu Dhabi after he entered as a guest, reaffirming Abu Dhabi's policies of chaos and abuse of relations, and its inappropriate behaviors that violate international laws and norms. What Abu Dhabi has done with Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani was surprising, disgusting and raising a lot of questions, the paper underlined, noting that it had done similar behavior with citizens and officials of other countries. As declared by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State of Qatar is closely monitoring the situation although it is difficult to clearly establish the circumstances surrounding the situation. Despite that, the State of Qatar principally stands with the protection of rights for every individual and affirms the entitlement of his family to pursue all legal means for the protection of his rights, Al-Sharq concluded.
