Qatari Red Crescent and Somali Counterpart Sign Cooperation Agreement

Doha, January 26 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent(QRC) and its Somalian counterpart signed today a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) to raise the level of cooperation and coordination in humanitarian activities that have been carried out by Qatar Red Crescent for the benefit of communities affected by drought and hurricanes in the various areas of Somalia.      The agreement was signed by QRC SecretaryGeneral Saleh bin Ali Al Mohannadi and Dr Ahmed Mohamed Hassan , President of the Somali Red Crescent Society ( SRCS) during his visit to QRC's headquarters. Al Mohannadi stressed the depth of relations between the QRC and its Somalian counterpart, saying the signing of the cooperation agreement comes as part of QRC work in Somalia, as an international humanitarian organization supporting Qatar's humanitarian efforts at home and abroad by seeking to protect life and human dignity in times of disasters and armed conflicts in accordance to the principles and rules including the rules of the international law, the established principles of the Fourth Geneva Conventions, the international humanitarian movement in addition to relevant local and international laws and legislation. For his part, President of SRCS expressed his pleasure to his existence in Doha to sign this important agreement, which will have a significant impact on access to Somali people and improving their living conditions. He expressed his thanks to QRC and the State of Qatar on assisting Somali people.(QNA)
