Qatari Red Crescent Carries Out Iftar Project in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Doha, July 23 (QNA) - Qatari Red Crescent carried out an Iftar project at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock and with a budget of QAR 203.700 QR since the beginning of the month of Ramadan and has also distributed more than 770 food baskets to needy families in Jerusalem. The project, which Qatar Red Crescent began to prepare from the month of June this year aims to provide Iftar and Suhoor meals for worshippers coming to the Al-Aqsa mosque for prayers and I'tikaf from various Palestinian areas . The project, which QRC carried out in cooperation with Jerusalem Zakat Committee, is divided into two parts: first, the distribution of daily Iftar meals over two weeks in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, where about 3006 fasting people are taking Iftar. QRC will continue to provide these meals until the twenty-eighth day of this month. The second part of the project involves to the distribution of food baskets to needy families in the city of Jerusalem and a number of towns and villages on the outskirts of the holy city, including villages located northwest of Jerusalem, Al-Ayzariya, Abu Dis, Sawahra, Anata, and the Shuafat refugee camp. In these areas 770 food baskets were distributed with an average of a basket for each family for the benefit of nearly 3850 people. The Jerusalem Zakat Committee thanked Qatar Red Crescent and praised its efforts to do good, support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and alleviate their suffering, especially in the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Qatar Red Crescent has allocated an amount of QAR 2.338700 for the Iftar project outside Qatar to be implemented in seven countries, namely Palestine, Syria, Central Africa, Sudan, Nepal, and the Philippines. It is expected that the project would benefit more than 58.600 people.(QNA)
