Qatari Students Win Four Medals in Gulf Mathematics Olympiad 2014

Muscat, April 09 (QNA) - Students from eight secondary independent schools , who represented the State of Qatar in the qualifiers for the Gulf Mathematics Olympiad in 2014 in Muscat, today scored unprecedented result by winning four medals, one silver and three bronze medals. The achievement by the Qatari students took place in the four-day competition, which concluded here today with participation of students from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states in the four branches of mathematics under the supervision of Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. HE Minister of Education and Higher Education, and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi, extended congratulations to the Qatari team for this outstanding achievement, which is the best by Qatari schools students over their participation in this competition. For her part, Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti, Chairperson of the higher Committee for the Mathematics Olympiad also extended congratulations to the Qatari team stressing the importance of this result and the major efforts made for preparing the team since last December for the competition. this result is not unprecedented. Student Shoug Khalid Al Sulaiti won the silver medal while the three bronze medals were won by the students Sultan Nasser Al-Kuwari, Khalid Umair al-Nuaimi and Hessah Ahmad Kafoud. (QNA)
