Qatar's Candidate for UNESCO Meets Ivory Coast's Minister of Culture

Paris, July 25 (QNA) - HE Advisor at the Emiri Diwan and the State of Qatar's candidate to the Post of the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari met here Monday with Ivory Coast's Minister of Culture and Francophonie Maurice Bandaman. During the meeting, Dr. Al Kuwari presented his election program and vision for the development of the UN Organization. Talks during the meeting also dealt with the importance of Africa and the need to support programs relevant to UNESCO, particularly in the areas of education and heritage.   For his part, the Minister of Culture and Francophone in Ivory Coast, praised the State of Qatar's role in supporting UNESCO in these critical areas.   Ivory Coast is a member to the UNESCO 58-member Executive Board and entitled to vote at the UNESCO elections.   HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari will take part tomorrow in the International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy in the Arab World due in Berlin the capital of Germany and is scheduled to present a paper entitled 'A Diplomatic Culture in A New International Approach' in the opening session of the Symposium organized by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD).  Dr. Al Kuwari 's participation comes at the ICD's invitation and within the framework of his election campaign as Director-General of UNESCO. During the visit to Germany, Dr. Al Kuwari will meet a number of high-level personalities taking part in the Symposium from many countries of the world.
