Qatar's Human Rights Council Membership Reflects UN's Confidence, QNHRC's Chairman Says

Doha, October 22 (QNA) - Chairman of Qatar National Human Rights Committee (QNHRC) Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri affirmed that the Qatar's membership of the Human Rights Council for a three-year period from 2015-2017, reflects the UN's confidence in the efforts being made by Qatar in the field of protection and promotion of human rights inside and outside the state.      In a statement to Qatar News Agency(QNA) on the occasion of Qatar's winning the Human Rights Council membership in the vote, which took place in the UN General Assembly in New York, Al Marri noted that the winning reflects confidence of the international organization and the international community in Qatar and its sincere efforts to promote , protect , respect human rights and disseminate its culture at local, regional and international levels, he added, saying these matters are enabling Qatar to take place within the council and to win this high-ranking memebership.    He added that we congratulated Qatar for this winning and the international testimony that confirms without doubt Qatar's continued efforts in ensuring protection and promotion of human rights at all levels.     QNHRC's Chairman stressed that the presence of Qatar, as a member of the Human Rights Council will enhance its role as a pioneering state in this field.(QNA)
