Qatar's Mission to EU Organizes Training Course on 'Mechanisms of the European Union's Institutions and Bodies'

Brussels, February 21 (QNA) - Qatar's Mission to the European Union organized a training course on ' Mechanisms of the European Union's Institutions and Bodies' with the participation of a number of Qatari diplomats in the presence of Director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Hassan Ibrahim Al Muhannadi. The training session included lectures, workshops and discussions according to the latest taught curriculum applied in diplomatic field in Europe in addition to field visits to EU institutions. Qatari diplomats listened to a detailed presentation on the history and foreign policy of the EU in light of the current regional and international developments as well as the Qatari- European relations and their future prospects. Head of the Qatari-European Friendship Group Ramona Manescu along with Head of Qatar's Mission to the European Union, HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, handed certificates to the Qatari diplomats during a luncheon banquet attended by a number of European Parliamentarians, Head of Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula at European Parliament, Michele Alliot-Marie, who held four ministerial portfolios of defense, justice, interior and foreign affairs in the French Government from 2002 to 2011. HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed thanks to European organizers for their contributions to make the session a success, stressing the mission's keenness to organize training sessions in the future in order to upgrade diplomatic expertise to keep up with political changes and widen new horizons for communication and cooperation. He expressed hope that these training courses would promote a level of exchange of diplomatic delegations between Qatar and the European Group in order to exchange expertise, introduce the Qatari diplomacy and its achievements through its active participation within the international community enhancing its role at the regional or international levels. The Head of Qatar's Mission to the EU stressed the great importance attached by the mission to develop diplomatic skills and capacities to serve the benefits of the State of Qatar, pointing out that diplomacy is a soft power and a tool of foreign policy which could be more effective than other tools.
