QCCI Hosts Meeting for Qatari Businessmen and NUSACC Delegation

Doha, April 07 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) hosted Monday a meeting for a delegation from the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC). The meeting, which aimed at increasing cooperation opportunities and enhancing trade relations, was attended by HE QCCI Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani and President & CEO of NUSACC David Hamoud. Speaking during the meeting, QCCI Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Tuwar Al Kuwari said: "Qatar is currently enjoying an overall economic development based on developing energy elements and supporting financial policies. Thanks to these policies, the Qatari economy has become one of the most growing economies in the world. This creates an appropriate atmosphere for implementing numerous activities for the benefits of the national economy, meanwhile it encourages building up successful partnerships and extending effective cooperation between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from different world countries." He deemed the visit as a good occasion for discussing further cooperation between the two sides, especially as "Qatari and American businessmen are eager to strengthen cooperation in all fields". He said many American companies have successfully implemented a lot of projects and have famous reputation in Qatar, adding that Qatari market is attracting businessmen all over the world to invest and do business especially during the hub it witnesses and its preparations for the 2022 World Cup. Al Kuwari hoped that the visit would end up with fruitful results for the benefits of both sides. For his part, the President & CEO of NUSACC praised Qatar's development, saying during the last decade Qatar has seen great changes and developments in various sectors, especially in economy. He said that Qatar and the USA have been enjoying close relations, especially in trade fields, commending the relations between the NUSACC and Qatari ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade and the QCCI. Hamoud said that Qatar is taking important steps in the transition from an economy based on oil and gas to the knowledge-based society, and has, in a short period, gone a long way in this direction. He said the opening of the Qatar Investment Authority's office in Washington will help facilitate the process of investment in the two countries, pointing out to the role of Qatar Airways, which operates direct flights to major U.S. cities. Hamoud said that the volume of trade amounted to $4 billion according to recent statistics, and Qatar is one of the 10 biggest importing countries from the USA, especially from the state of Washington.
