QP's Research and Technology Centre Takes Part in Qatar Energy R&D Forum

Doha, March 18 (QNA) - The Qatar Petroleum Research and Technology Centre (QPRTC) participated in the Qatar Energy R&D Forum, which was held today in the New Research Complex of Qatar University. The one-day forum was inaugurated by Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, Vice-Chairman of QP and CEO of RasGas Company Limited. As part of the event, Dr. Nasser Al-Mohannadi, Manager of the QPRTC, delivered a keynote speech on "Building Unique Competence, Building Practical Partnerships," in which he underlined the importance of nurturing innovation in building successful economies. During discussions that followed on the theme "Aligning Mandates of National and International Energy R&D Stakeholders," Dr. Al-Mohannadi, as one of the panelists, also focused on how national institutions can play a key bridging role for research collaboration among the major R&D stakeholders. He stressed, among others, the importance of mandate alignment and partnership building as successful enablers in research activities. QPRTC also participated as an exhibitor at the forum, showcasing the research activities currently in progress including new techniques related to the enhancement of well injectivity and productivity, and the characterization of oil reservoirs using oil fingerprinting. Its additional research activities deal with improving water management, investigating the storage of carbon dioxide (CO2), and developing acid gas removal technologies. QPRTC's research projects engage local and international universities, international oil companies, science institutes and technology providers. The centre's research themes are largely focused on oil and gas upstream and operation activities. (QNA)
