QRC Carries Out Several Relief Projects inside Syria

Doha, April 26 (QNA) - Utilizing its legal capacity as a globally recognized humanitarian organization whose vehicles, facilities, and staff are protected under international laws and conventions, Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has executed a series of relief projects for the displaced and besieged communities inside Syria, through its representative office in Gaziantep, Turkey, at a total cost of QR 402,133. A QRC press release said the first project involved supporting hospitals in northern Syria with medicines and medical supplies, to help them meet the increasing numbers of patients and injured people as a result of the recent escalations, which increase the possibility of siege. Also these hospitals already suffer a deficit in medicines and medical consumables, which exacerbate the suffering of patients and injured people and make the doctors unable to save their lives. After examining the situation, QRC's office in Turkey provided medicines for the neediest hospitals in Aleppo and its countryside, including 10 kits of medicines, each covering the needs of a hospital for one month. The lot contained 50,614 medicine packs of different types, at a value of 10,000 euros (QR 38,663), for the benefit of seven hospitals. As all medical supplies are cut off in Idlib, QRC secured 51 nebulizers and a lot of medicines, medical consumables, and anesthesia for five hospitals and two health centers. Distributed in two batches, the medicines cost QR 43,427, while the nebulizers were donated from Doha. Last, QRC was the first to respond to the emergency appeal issued by a DIP camp in Idlib, amid a large wave of displacement in anticipation of bombardment. QRC offered 175 tents and 450 blankets, at a total value of $88,000 (QR 320,043). (QNA)
