QRC Collects QR 11 Million from Support Gaza Auction

Doha, September 27 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has raised about QR 11 million from the grand charitable auction held on Friday at the Amphitheatre of Katara Cultural Village, as part of the Support Gaza campaign, which was launched by QRC more than two months ago. The revenue of the charitable auction, portion of it will be given to sponsors, will go to QRC efforts to reconstruct Gaza, which suffered heavy Israeli bombings that hit residential buildings, schools, mosques, hospitals, Gaza's only power plant, and even ambulance vehicles and staff, leaving behind a tragic toll of casualties and losses and terribly affecting every single aspect of life in Gaza local community. Organized by QRC, the event is sponsored by Qatar TV and Al-Rayyan Satellite Channel and supported by Alfardan Group, Jaidah Group, and Al-Wajba Establishment, which donated the auction items as a contribution to such a noble cause. The auction is part of the humanitarian campaign launched by QRC more than two months ago to support Gaza people affected by the Israeli attacks. Following the end of war, the Support Gaza campaign shifted the focus from relief to reconstruction. Immediately, the QRC office in Gaza initiated reconstruction works and resumed work on the prewar projects. They surveyed the degrees of damage in some already completed projects, particularly in the healthcare, education, and water and sanitation sectors, for repair and rehabilitation. The charitable auction is not the first event by QRC to help Gaza. Early in August, there was a grand Gaza solidarity festival organized in cooperation with the Katara Cultural Village Foundation, Qatar TV, Al-Rayyan TV, and Q-Media. (QNA)
