QRC Receives QR 500,000 Donation from QIMC for Gaza Reconstruction

Doha, September 15 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) received a QR 500,000 cash donation from Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Co. (QIMC), in addition to a workday wage donation from the employees of the group and its subsidiaries and associates, as a contribution to QRC medical and relief efforts to help the Gaza populations affected by the recent two-month Israeli aggression. At his office, QRC Secretary-General Saleh bin Ali Al-Mohannadi welcomed CEO of QIMC Abdulrahman A. Al-Ansari who handed the donation check to Al-Mohannadi and listened to a presentation on QRC assistance and projects to alleviate the suffering of innocent people of Gaza, who lost thousands of martyrs and casualties and tens of thousands of homes, schools, and mosques under Israeli bombs. After the meeting, HE Chairman of QIMC Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohamed bin Jabor Al-Thani stated, "Our reaction to the QRC emergency appeal was motivated by a sense of social, humanitarian, and religious responsibility as citizens of this nation, as well as a firm belief that it is our duty to stand by and lend a hand to our Palestinian brothers in their calamity, in conformity with Prophetic teachings". On his part, Mr. Al-Mohannadi expressed his profound thanks and appreciation for this good initiative by QIMC, which concurs with the general trend among different State institutions to support QRC and other charitable and humanitarian organizations, in light of the concepts of partnership and social responsibility, which were best embodied in the great success of 'Support Gaza' festival and the wide community response from institutions and individuals to help Palestinian brothers in their latest painful crisis. "We were pleased with the support from QIMC and other donors for our efforts to relieve Gaza, and today, we call upon them to support us while preparing to reconstruct the badly stricken enclave, to ensure for Gaza people even better health and social services," he added. QIMC contribution comes in response to the emergency appeal issued by QRC in mid-July to raise $3 million (QR 10,950,000) to help 40,000 people, or 6,000 families affected by the Israeli attacks on Gaza, over six months. QRC also allocated $2 million through its Disaster Response Fund to provide urgent relief for Gaza, including fuel and medical supplies and requirements for hospitals. QRC receives donations from any person willing to support the relief efforts for the victims of Israeli aggression on Gaza via the hotline: 6666-6364, QRC premises in Old Slata or QRC agents at various malls, online at: www.qrcs.org.qa, or by sending an SMS with 'Qatar' to 92766 to donate QR 100.
