QTA Hosts ICCA Workshop on International Association Meetings Organization

Doha, April 01 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism Authority hosted today the International Congress and Convention Association, ICCA workshop on international association meetings organization. The specialized workshop, designed to provide an introduction about the International Congress and Convention association, was held at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). A number of QTA's partners from the private sector, including professional conference organizers (PCOs), destination management companies (DMCs), MICE venues; namely hotels and venues operators, as well as special venues, travel agencies, and event management companies and PR agencies attended the workshop. In addition, a representative of ICCA was present at the event. The workshop's program included two highly beneficial sessions introducing the audience to ICCA and ICCA products, as well as touching on the ICCA Statistics report about Qatar and the services offered by the tourism business sector in the country. The second session tackled ICCA database training; namely the big data and how to do business exchange in this market. "We are proud to host this ICCA workshop, particularly that ICCA is regarded as the global expert in international association meetings. We hope that our partners from the private sector, including hotels, PCOs, DMCs, and travel agencies highly benefit from this workshop, especially that it aims to provide them with comprehensive solutions to all issues relating to organizing events such as choosing the event site, seeking technical advice, and preparing full plans to hold international conventions and activities," commented Hamad Al Abdan, Director of Exhibitions at QTA. "We will always seek to host such activities with the aim of supporting our partners from the private sector in their bid to promote Qatar as a leading destination for business tourism", added Al Abdan. Such workshops on how to organize international conventions and conferences are set to provide PCOs, DMCs, event management companies and PR agencies with the essential knowledge and latest tips and rules on the best ways to attract international conventions. QTA seeks to raise the ranking of Qatar in the ICCA Statistics Report, to grant Qatar a more advanced position in the report by growing the number of ICCA members in Qatar, including bodies, institutions, and firms. It is noteworthy that ICCA members in Qatar are currently: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), Qatar Airways, Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), Qatar Media Services (QMedia), and Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI). Hosting the workshop takes place after QTA successfully hosted the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO) Regional Seminar on "Delivering Professional Congress Organization: Engaging All" earlier this month. The seminar attracted a large number of PCOs and event organizers from Qatar and the Gulf region. (QNA)
