QU Researcher Wins Key Industry Award

Doha, April 13 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) Center for Advanced Materials director has won Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Plastic Excellence Award 2014. Dr Mariam Al-Ali Al-Maadeed emerged winner among researchers shortlisted from academic and research institutions, and industrial companies in the Gulf and Middle East region, QU said Sunday. The award recognizes her academic achievements in research on innovative new products, processes and applications of plastics. It also honours the quality and excellence of her articles published in international journals and presentations at conferences regionally and internationally. Dr Al-Maadeed's work focused on environmental sustainability through polymer and plastic conversion to environmentally friendly materials. Her work is also a leading advocate in collaboration with industry for innovation and research towards social and economic development. (QNA)
