Ra's al-Khaimah Police foil smuggle attempt of 128 heroin capsules at RAK Airport

The RAK Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle 128 heroin capsules, weighing 1.36 Kg, and worth AED500, 000, at the RAK Airport. Colonel Ebrahim Ali Kaptin, Director-General of the Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department, said police were tipped off about the suspect, who was visiting the country. A team led by Major Ali Al-Saadi, Head of Control Operations was formed to follow up the case. He added that the team monitored the movements of the passenger upon his arrival at the airport. He noted the passenger seemed worried and scared, and when questioned he confessed of having the capsules in his stomach. The suspect confessed he had swallowed the heroin pills in a bid to smuggle them into the UAE. He was rushed to the hospital where the capsules were removed from his stomach and referred to the public prosecution. Major General Ali Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, praised the cooperation of police departments in the country.
