Ratanakosin Kingdom commemorates 236th anniversary

BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) -- Ratanakosin Kingdom of Thailand commemorates the 236th anniversary of the founding of the Rattanakosin Kingdom from April 21-25 in Bangkok. An event is organized at Bangkok City Hall to celebrate the founding of Ratanakosin by the founder of the current House of Chakri in 1782. The celebration from April 21-25 not only features the stories and history about the Rattanakosin Kingdom at seven historic sites in the area but embrace traditional and local cultural assets. Visitors are urged to dress in Thai traditional costumes to enjoy exhibits showcasing cultural heritage from communities in Bangkok and others across the country. There are demonstrations of Thai fabric, Thai massage as well as traditional food and desserts. The Rattanakosin Kingdom is the fourth traditional center of power in the History of Thailand, formerly Siam, founded by King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke with the establishment of Bangkok as the capital city.
