"Rayong Seafood Festival" organized to promote Thai seafood, tourism

RAYONG, THAILAND, August 31 (TNA) - Thailand's eastern seaside Rayong Province organized the "Rayong Seafood Festival" on Saturday to ensure the safety of Thai seafood and to promote local tourism, in the wake of a recent oil spill incident off its coast. Rayong Governor Wichit Chatpaisit presided over the opening ceremony of the "Rayong Seafood Festival" under the theme, "Rayong Seafood, Clean and Safe", at Suan Son Beach. The festival, jointly sponsored by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTGC), whose oil pipeline leaked in late July with crude spills spotted in adjacent beaches, and local seafood business operators, as part of efforts to rebuild confidence in Thai seafood after the incident. Rayong plans to organize three more of such festivals to help stimulate local tourism in time for the upcoming high traveling season late this year.(TNA)
