Reception Given at Chinese Embassy

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Zhang Chenggang, charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese embassy here, hosted a reception at the embassy on Wednesday to mark the 57th anniversary of the conclusion of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. Present there on invitation were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Ryu Myong Son, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Kil Song, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned. Staff members of the Chinese embassy and Chinese guests staying here were on hand. Zhang Chenggang said in his speech that the above-said treaty is a valuable treasure left by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries and a symbol of deep friendship formed between the two parties and two peoples in the long revolutionary struggle and socialist construction. Saying it is the steadfast policy of the Chinese Party and government to excellently defend, consolidate and develop the China-DPRK ties of friendship and cooperation, he hoped that the Korean people would steadily achieve bigger and new success in socialist construction under the leadership of the WPK led by Chairman Kim Jong Un. Yang Hyong Sop noted in his speech that the DPRK-China friendship, noble heritage and a common treasure bequeathed by the preceding leaders, is further developing in line with the requirements of the new times thanks to the deep trust and intimacy of the supreme leaders of the two countries and joint efforts of the peoples of the DPRK and China. He hoped that the fraternal Chinese people would make bigger success in their work to achieve the great prosperity of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping as its core. Earlier, the Chinese consul general in Chongjin hosted a reception. -0-
