Registration for low-income earners ends Monday

BANGKOK, May 14 (TNA) - Low-income earners, who have not yet registered with the government to be eligible for future state welfare programmes are urged to do so by Monday, the last day for the registration. Government spokesman Lt-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the second round of registration, which has been opened since April will end Monday. He said the current registration has received interest from the poor. They were confident in the government’s assistance measures after 97.5 per cent of about 7.7 million applicants received cash handouts in the last round. According to the Finance Ministry, more than 12 million low-income earners have registered with the government as of last Thursday. He said more assistance such as reduction of water and electricity fees and help to farmers who encounter natural disaster is being considered by the government. (TNA)
