Relations between Russia’s, China’s armies develop successfully - Chinese top-ranking military

MOSCOW, May 10. /TASS/. Ties between Russian and Chinese armed forces are developing successfully in many areas, visiting Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission Fan Changlong said on Sunday at the talks with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. "Our comprehensive relations of partnership and strategic cooperation have entered a new phase of development," he said, adding that he had "felt it himself" when taking part in the talks between China’s and Russia’s Presidents, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, on May 8. "Thanks to personal efforts of our heads of state, relations between our armed forces are developing and have reached good results in many areas," Fan Changlong said. He said a big delegation of the Chinese military had stayed in Moscow after the departure of the president. "We have stayed and continue our working visit to Russia," he said. "The key goal of the visit is to implement the agreements reached by the heads of state on further development of military and military technical cooperation." The Chinese top-ranking military congratulated the Russian leaders on the successful organization of the celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. He said the military parade on Red Square "was organized at a high level and produced a tremendous impression." He noted that for the first time in history Chinese servicemen had taken part in the parade on Red Square, which fact "had a big political and historic significance." "I would like to thank Russian colleagues for providing our servicemen with very good living and training conditions," Fan Changlong said. He said it was his third visit to Moscow. He visited Moscow in 1995 and 2005. "I saw it with my own eyes that considerable changes have taken place here: Moscow has become still more beautiful, the living standards have improved dramatically, the armed forces have been considerably modernized," he noted.
