Religious Differences Not Obstacle To Breaking Fast With Muslim Friends - M'sian Minister

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), July 4 (Bernama) -- The differences in religion and belief among Malaysians are not an obstacle for them to break fast with their Muslim friends during Ramadan. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Kurup said the high spirit of togetherness had enabled them to sit together and enjoy the breaking-of-fast meal. He said, the breaking-of-fast event during every Ramadan was a good initiative and meaningful to everyone because it could make them understand the meaning of solidarity. "We are responsible in shaping family and community ties that are more harmonious to ensure the people's lives being built can be realised in the context of nation-building," he said in a statement here, Saturday. He said, Malaysia was very unique because there were a diversity of races, cultural values and religious beliefs, and because of that, everyone was united to enjoy a harmonious life. -- BERNAMA
