Religious leader asks world to lift anti-Iran sanctions

Islamabad, May 4, IRNA – A prominent leader of Pakistan’s top Islamic Party on Saturday said that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful asking the world to immediately lift unjustified sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic. Taking to IRNA Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that US has to change its biased approach towards Iran for making the nuclear talks successful. He said that US is the root cause of all world problems. “If you study international politics closely you will come to know that the US is behind all world issues,” he added. He noted that US is pursuing those policies which serve its interests, adding that it wants to maintain its hegemony on the world. He strongly believed that Washington exerts unjustified pressure on those countries which do not accept its dominance in world affairs. Baloch said that economic sanctions are also a way to punish those states which are resistant towards American policies. The politician said that the US is following a biased attitude towards Iran. He viewed that talks between Iran and western powers would only succeed if the US changes its arrogant approach towards the Islamic Republic. He went on to say that change in American approach towards Iran would ensure peace in the world, calling on US to show some respect for the rights of other states. “The IAEA has failed to find any evidence against the peaceful nature of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program,” added the JI leader. He added that US is afraid of the success of the Islamic Revolution that is why the country is trying all out efforts to destabilize the Islamic Republic. end
