Report on BRICS long-term strategy prepared

MOSCOW, May 21 /TASS/. The Council of BRICS expert centers has prepared a report on the organization’s long-term strategy to be presented at a BRICS summit in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan, Georgy Toloraya, the executive director of the National Committee on BRICS Research, said on Thursday. The National Committee on BRICS Research is the organizer of the forthcoming BRICS Academic Forum due to take place in Moscow on May 22-23. According to Tololaya, the seventh BRICS forum will have ten sections devoted to economic cooperation, BRICS participation in global management, questions of financial architecture, peace and security, the social policy of BRICS states and the group’s interaction with other countries. "The discussion promises to be very fruitful. Unfortunately, we could not comply with the wishes of everybody who wished to participate in the forum for the reason that even the most spacious room would have been unable to accommodate all of them. That, in fact, is a sign of great interest in this informal gathering," the expert noted. He also said that the Council of Expert Centers discussed the preparation of the analytical report on BRICS long-term strategy at its morning session behind the closed doors on Thursday. The experts had received instructions from the leaders of the five BRICS countries to work out recommendations on the organization’s future development. "Truth is born in bitter disputes. We have managed to finalize the final text of our report. We are going to present it to the BRICS leaders at the Ufa summit," Tololaya said. The BRICS group of countries unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Read more
