Rescuers retrieve 21 bodies from Chinese coal mine

BEIJING The day after a fire broke out at a state-owned coal mine in northeast China rescuers have retrieved 21 bodies from a shaft at the mine. State News agency Xinhua reported Saturday that 16 workers had managed to escape the blaze that began at 11 p.m. (1500GMT) Friday in Jixi City in Heilongjiang Province.
