Retail trade turnover increases in Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan, Dec.18 By Daniyar Mukhtarov – Trend: The retail trade turnover in Kazakhstan has increased by 42 billion KZT and stood at 578 KZT (181.7 KZT = $1) in November 2014, the country’s Ranking.kz analytical service said. “On the eve of the New Year, an average urban citizen has spent 60,000 KZT, or 4,000 KZT more than in October,” Ranking.kz said. The analytical service said that retail sales have increased in 14 regions of Kazakhstan in November. The highest growth rates were recorded in the provinces of Zhambyl (an increase by 29 percent - 21 billion KZT), Atyrau (18 percent – 17 billion KZT) and East Kazakhstan (17 percent - 58 billion KZT), according to Ranking.kz. “Megalopolises accounted for one third (194 billion KZT) of all retail sales. The average check per urban citizen has increased by 7.8 percent in a month and 20 percent in a year,” the analytical service said. The most expensive average checks were recorded in the city of Almaty (91,400 KZT), Almaty province (75,500 KZT) and North Kazakhstan province (71,200 KZT), said Ranking.kz.
