Revised Registers Of Electors For Next General Election Open For Public Inspection

SINGAPORE, July 27 (Bernama) -- The composite registers of electors for the purposes of the Singapore's next general election and any election thereafter have been certified and are available for public inspection. The Elections Department, Prime Minister's Office, in a press release issued Monday, said there were a total of 2,460,977 electors in the registers. It said Singapore citizens could check their particulars in the registers via online at the Elections Department's website (http://www.eld.gov.sg), community centres/clubs, Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas registration centres and at the Elections Department. The department said those whose names were removed from the registers of electors for failing to vote at a previous election (known as non-voters) could apply to have their names restored to the registers, so that they could vote in the next general and subsequent elections. Overseas Singaporeans, whose names are listed in the registers of electors and have resided in Singapore for an aggregate of at least 30 days during the three-year period between Feb 1, 2012 and Jan 31, 2015, and who wish to vote at one of the designated overseas polling stations, are encouraged to register as overseas electors early via the abovementioned channels, if they have not done so. They are encouraged to apply early to restore their names to the registers via the abovementioned channels as applications will close with the issue of the Writ of Election. --BERNAMA
