Revitalized relations with Turkey to be best monument to Ambassador Karlov

MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. A fully revitalized Russian-Turkish cooperation will be the best monument to the late Ambassador Andrei Karlov, who was assassinated during a public ceremony in Ankara on Monday, says a draft statement the State Duma committee for foreign policy submitted on Tuesday for consideration by the lower house of Russian parliament. "Doomed are the hopes of those who seek to impede full-scale Russian-Turkish cooperation by using these heinous methods, murders and intimidation, who put up all kinds of barriers to the rise of a genuine antiterrorist coalition set to attain security and stability across the entire Eurasian continent," says the draft uploaded in the Duma’s database of electronic documents. The Russian deputies say that the decisive and unequivocal condemnation of the Russian ambassador’s assassination expressed by the Turkish government "reaffirms the confidence that the provocateurs’ actions will bump into appropriate counteractions and Russian-Turkish cooperation will be truly efficient and fruitful in spite of all the strivings of its opponents." "It is exactly this course of events, which would lead up to peace and tranquility in the region, full liberation of all the populated localities from terrorists and regaining of peaceful life in the battered Syria that will become the best possible monument to Andrei Gennadievich Karlov, the courageous son of our people," the draft says. "His cherished memory and the recall of his noble deeds and bright aspirations will live on in our hearts," it adds. The document expresses condolences to the family and close friends of the slain diplomat and "urges the parliaments and international parliamentary associations across the world to condemn resolutely the acts of violence against diplomatic missions and their staff members that have become increasingly frequent recently, to speak out definitively against all forms of international terrorism, and to pool forces for the creation of an efficient antiterrorist coalition."
