RI - Thailand Strengthen Anti Drugs Coop

Jakarta, Oct 1 (Antara) - The Indonesian National Narcotic Agency (BNN) and a Thai youth institute have strengthened cooperation to fight drug abuse through various anti-drug campaigns. In a written statement on Monday, BNN said hundreds of young people from Thailand, as part of the "Thailand Goes to Indonesia" programme, will visit a number of selected schools to stage anti-drug campaigns. It said young people from Thailand will visit, among others, Al-Jabr Islamic Elementary School in Pondok Labu and Tarakanita III Elementary School in Kemandoran, South Jakarta, to combat drug abuse and its illicit circulation. The campaigns aim to encourage the younger generation of the two countries and the world to find solutions to drug problems, and to raise their concern and awareness of the dangers of drug abuse. "Thailand Goes to Indonesia" is an incentive for Thai youths to win the "Thailand Youth Initiative against Drugs 2013" project to develop a caring community that is against the usage of drugs. The programme was initiated by the Thai Foreign Ministry, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), the Ministry of Education, and the Asia-Pacific Non-Government Organisation on Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention (ASPAC-NGO).
