RI, Vietnam To Cooperate In Public Sector Auditing

Jakarta, Nov 16 (ANTARA) - Indonesia`s State Audit Board (BPK) and its Vietnamese counterpart have agreed to cooperate in the field of public sector auditing including training, seminars and parallel auditing. BPK in a press statement received here on Tuesday said a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation was signed by BPK chief Hadi Poernomo and Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam, Dinh Tien Dung, in Bali on Tuesday. The signing was also attended by BPK member Sapto Amal Damandari and Bahrullah Akbar, Vietnam`s Deputy Auditor General Doan Xuan Tien and Vietnamese ambassador to Indonesia Nguyen Xuan Thuy and BPK first and second echelon officials. Hadi Poernomo said the signing of the MOU was in line with the spirit of solidarity and cooperation done in concurrence with the establishment of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institution (ASEANSAI). "We as part of the public sector auditor community have a main mandate of auditing the accountability of state financial management to create good governance with the focus put on transparency, accountability, economy, efficiency and effectiveness of state finance," he said in the written statement. The cooperation is based on common factors and mutually beneficial reciprocal relations with respect to the law of the respective countries. Common cultural backgrounds, needs and future challenges were used as the foundation for building the capacity of the state audit board through exchange of knowledge and experience agreed in the MOU. "I hope the BPK and the State Audit Office of Vietnam could build a synergy to give results which are better than individual results," Hadi said. Dinh Tien Dung meanwhile said the signing of the MOU was significant. The cooperation agreement provides opportunity for exchange of knowledge and experience to boost auditors` professional standards as well as the standards of research management. "The signing of the MOU is historical because it coincides with the establishment of the ASEANSAI. I believe the bilateral relations will not only benefit the two countries but also ASEANSAI," he said. The agreement was the follow up of the bilateral meeting between BPK and its Vietnamese counterprat in Jakarta on May 24, 2011.
