Riau Police Seized 5,788 Ecstasy Pills Between Jan-Sept 2013

Pekanbaru, Riau, Oct 9 (Antara) - Police in the Riau province have seized 5,788 ecstasy pills between January and September this year, a senior police official said on Wednesday. "The figure might continue increasing as the number of drug abusers in Riau is quite high. But we will make every effort to keep it down," Adj. Snr. Comr. Hermansyah, the director of the Narcotic Directorate at the Riau provincial police stated. According to data released by the directorate, the ecstasy pills were seized from 46 suspects in 33 separate cases of drug abuse. Hermansyah further revealed that out of the 33 cases, 12 cases were handled by the provincial police, 8 cases were tackled by the Pekanbaru city police, 6 by the Dumai city police, 2 by the Bengkalis district police, and 6 cases were investigated by the Rokan Hilir district police.
