Ring leader of gun robbery gang arrested in Nakhon Sawan

NAKHON SAWAN, March 5 (TNA) -- The fifth suspect who was allegedly a ring leader of a Chinese gun robbery gang was arrested in Nakhon Sawan before dawn on Saturday while he was escaping on a train heading from Bangkok to the northern province of Chiang Mai. The 30-year-old man identified as Yang Zheng was apprehended after the train stopped briefly at Nakhon Sawan railway station. No guns were found in the possession of Mr Yang who was sleeping when he was arrested while police believed he must have thrown away evidences related to the robbery attempt while he was escaping. Mr Yang is believed to be the leader of the robbers and was not at the scene, police said. The robbery attempt at a gun shop at Wang Burapha, a well known area for center of gun shops, occurred on Friday. Police said four robbers who were Chinese nationals from the Mongolia region and armed with two BB guns and knives entered the gun shop located inside a shopping mall and engaged in fighting with the owner and his employees. Police said three wounded robbers were apprehended at the scene while another one who managed to escape but was arrested later. One of the wounded robbers died later at the hospital. (TNA)
