"In 2012, the average time for Indonesians to get education is 5.8 years while the government has set target of nine years. The population may increase but the quality of human resources in Indonesia is alarming," he said. Wendy said up till now Indonesia is still relying much on its natural resources than human resources. "The ratio is 80 percent natural resources and 20 percent human resources. We need to reverse this ratio in order to boost our competitiveness in the world and avoid being hub for cheap labor only," he said. Meanwhile Chief of Indonesian Economic Committee (KEN) Chairul Tanjung expects the government to focus more on the improvement of human resources in Indonesia. "More and more foreigners are going to work in the country and therefore, we must be able to increase Indonesian workers` capability and productivity," he said adding that all elements of the nation should increase their proficiency in every field so that Indonesia would have more competent and capable human resources. Chairul also said it was time to invest in education and trainings in an effort to increase the competitiveness of Indonesia`s human resources. ***4***
