Ritual poetry revives devotion to Ahl al-Bayt (AS): Official

Gorgan, Golestan Prov., Dec 8, IRNA - “Ritual poetry revives love and devotion to Ahl al-Bayt (AS) in the history of Islam”, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said on Monday. Jannati made the statement in a speech at the 2nd National congress of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) poetry which kicked off today in Goragn, capital of Golestan province. “Ritual poetry does not belong to a special religion or school of thought, Sunnis and Shia have constantly loved the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) throughout the history of Islam”, Jannati noted. “Ritual poetry had a vital role in the works of Persian-language poets following the 4th century. The devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) (the infallible progeny of the Prophet) exists in most of the poetry works. It can be found in works of noted poets including Rudaki, Balkhi, Ferdowsi, Rumi, Sanaei Ghaznavi, Naser Khosrow, Balkhi, Hafez, Kisai Marvazi and Bidel”, he added. “Ritual poetry exists in other divine religions as well, samples of which are presented in Iran’s annual Baran-e Qadir International Congress.” The culture minister also read some of Kisai Marvazi’s poems which are believed to have more significant ritual works than other poets and added: “The first ritual poetry on the epic of Karbala was composed by him”. The one-day conference is being attended by Sunni and Shia poets, writers and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) poetry and officials./end
