Rocker’s charity run receives more than Bt330 mln

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Nov 25 (TNA) - While taking a two-day break from his 2,191-kilometer charity run, rock star Artiwara Kongmalai gets a morale boost from local students in Prachuap Khiri Khan in a joyful meeting at a local school. Artiwara or Toon started his charity run aiming to raise fund for state-run hospitals on November 1 in Betong town bordering Malaysia. He plans to reach the northernmost town of Mae Sai in 55 days. Due to leg injury, Toon has taken the break trying to recover before resuming the run on Saturday. Just like what he has done along the way, Toon gave out scholarship funds to students at Bangsapan School in Prachuap Khiri Khan as well as sport gears to other schools in the province. Over 800 students at the gathering sang one of Toon's big hits and a song composed for his campaign "Khao Khon La Khao." Bang Saphan Hospital also presented Bt3.7 million from selling charity run t-shirts. So far, the campaign has received over Bt330million worth of donation after Toon completed running for about 880 kilometres . He aims to raise 700 million baht in donations for 11 state-run hospitals across the country. (TNA)
