Rotterdam festival to screen two Iranian films

TEHRAN,Dec.29(MNA)--The Iranian films “A Modest Reception” and “Parviz” will be screened at the 43rd International Film Festival Rotterdam, which will be held in the Netherlands from January 23 to February 3. The screenings of the films are part of a program, which has been organized to review Iranian cinema. Directed by Majid Barzegar, “Parviz” is about a man in his fifties who has lived his entire life in his father’s home and has never held a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out. “A Modest Reception” by Mani Haqiqi is about a well-situated couple, Leila and Kaveh, who drive through the mountains distributing plastic bags full of money to every poor and unfortunate person they meet. “A Modest Reception” won the NETPAC Prize at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012 and the stars of the film won the best actor and actress awards at 12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi in 2012. Rotterdam will also host a series of discussions, conferences, and screening of short films and video art from Tehran-based filmmakers during the program.
