Royal Irrigation Department builds rubber road

BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) – The Royal Irrigation Department used 21 tons of natural rubber to build a road that can bear trucks weighing 20-25 tons each. Thaweesak Thanadetpol, deputy director-general of the department, said the project responded to the government’s policy to have governmental organizations use natural rubber to help raise the local price of natural rubber for farmers. The Royal Irrigation Department mixed 21.30 tons of natural rubber with asphalt to maintain a main road that stretched along an irrigation canal in Ban Thab Salao village of Nong Chang district in Uthai Thani province, he said. The road had not been maintained for over a decade. The task started on July 10 and finished on Sept 5. The 7.92-kilometer-long road is 9 meters wide and 5 centimeters thick and can bear trucks weighing 20-25 tons each. The maintained road is more durable, improves the landscape of the area, facilitates motorists, stops dirt from previous potholes and thus benefits the quality of life of local residents. (TNA)
