Runoff isolates 160 families in Mae Hong Son

MAE HONG SON, June 14 (TNA) – A runoff isolated 160 families in Mae Hong Son’s Sop Moei district while landslides and uprooted trees were reported from this northern province yesterday evening. After days of heavy downpours, the runoff passed through a village. It toppled many trees and power poles and caused a blackout. Roads in Sop Moei district were impassable. Similar incidents also happened in Mae Sariang and Mae La Noi districts. Local officials including district officials and paramilitary rangers were rescuing victims and provided them with necessities. Local residents in villages close to waterways have been warned of more runoffs due to persistent rains. (TNA)
