Russia’s Primorsky region, China’s autonomy in Jilin province sign cooperation agreement

VLADIVOSTOK, February 3. /TASS/. Russia’s Far Eastern Primorsky Krai and China’s bordering north-eastern region in the Jilin province entered into a co-operation agreement for 2015 on Tuesday. The document, signed by Vladivostok head Igor Pushkarev and governor of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Li Jinghao, provides for co-operation between the two countries’ sister regions in the field of economy, tourism, sports and culture. In particular, the governor of the Chinese autonomy is interested in the project for building the Vladivostok Ring Road (VKAD) and bridge over the Amur Bay to the Peschany Peninsula, which would dramatically increase bilateral trade. "Today’s changing economic conditions should be considered as the search for new opportunities for co-operation and development. This, among other things, creates more favourable conditions for foreign, including Chinese investment, in Russia and Vladivostok. In this sense the VKAD and bridge over the Amur Bay may become the biggest joint regional project to mutual advantage," mayor Igor Pushkarev said. The VKAD project envisages the construction of a new motor road along the shore of the Amur Bay through almost all areas of the city. The highway is to be connected to the transport network of the Russky Island. Read more
