Russia’s Sverdlovsk region delegation offers South Korea cooperation in economy, science and tourism

YEKATERINBURG, March 23. /TASS/. A delegation from Russia’s Sverdlovsk region in the Urals has launched a series of talks with partners from South Korea’s most populous province Gyeonggi-do, the regional ministry of international and external economic relations said on Monday. The working visit will focus on expanding cooperation in the sphere of economy, science, education, tourism and also inter-parliamentary ties, the ministry said. "In current geopolitical conditions, the strengthening of ties with Asian states is of special importance," Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev said. The delegation includes a number of regional ministers and heads of 15 major enterprises, including Uralmashzavod, Uralelectromash, Titanium Valley and the Ural machine-building corporation Pumori. The Sverdlovsk region offers South Korean partners to participate in the major projects in the sphere of machine building, machine-tool industry and technical re-equipping of plants. The delegation is also expected to meet with the leadership of the Lotte Group multinational food and shopping corporation to discuss the development of the region’s city infrastructure, including as part of the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the administrative center Yekaterinburg. South Korea is the 15th major foreign trade partner of the Sverdlovsk region. Over the past 10 years, its trade turnover grew from $65 million to $228 million, namely due to the increase in the exports from the Sverdlovsk region.
