Russia, Algeria have similar positions on fight against terrorism - Duma speaker

ALGIERS, November 4. /TASS/. Russia and Algeria have taken similar positions on the fight against terrorism in the Middle East, Russian State Duma lower house Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday after his talks with Algeria’s President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. "Our talks focused on the Syria crisis and, what is important here, both Russia and Algeria took similar positions on the restoration of peace and the fight against terrorism in the Middle East," Naryshkin told reporters noting that bilateral cooperation and topical issues of the international agenda, especially North Africa and the Middle East, prevailed at the talks. "We are content with how cooperation between our countries has been developing in the political, military, economic and humanitarian spheres," he said adding that "both countries and, largely the people, are motivated" to promote these relations. "Definitely, mutual trade and economic collaboration are in the interests of our countries," the Russian speaker said. "We have a long pre-history of economic collaboration, especially in education. On the basis of what has been already done, we are provided with an opportunity to make steps forward." Read more
