Russia and Argentina have prospects for agricultural cooperation - Putin

MOSCOW, October 21 /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia and Argentina had good prospects for developing bilateral relations in agriculture. "Thanks to Russia’s growing imports of agricultural products from Argentina - the volumes of these deliveries have been on the rise - Argentina exported about 2,500 tonnes of beef to Russia in the first six months of 2015," Putin told Argentinian President Cristina de Kirchner during a video conference. Putin added that thanks to bilateral cooperation Russians had a chance to have a good lunch by using Argentinian products. "I am afraid I will never have a delicious dinner like the one you served me in the Kremlin. We are still remembering it," Kirchner told Putin in turn. She emphasized that the Kremlin dinner had been a sign of friendship and respect. It also showed that Argentina was important for Russia, the Argentinian leader stressed. Putin added that Argentinian companies were expanding presence in the Russian market. "We are very glad to it. For our part, we are going to create comfortable conditions for Argentinian agrarians," the Russian leader said. Russia’s partners in the Eurasian Economic Union agreed on a certificate for importing high-quality Argentinian beef last year, Putin went on to say. He called attention to law enforcement cooperation between the two countries. "A treaty on reciprocal legal assistance in criminal cases has recently been submitted to the State Duma, Russia’s parliament. The document’s entry into force will make struggle against trans-national crime more effective," Putin said. Putin did not stop short of noting the development of cultural ties between Russia and Argentina, including a traditional Argentinian tango festival. "We have recently watched you dance at one political event. It seems to me that you decorated your country’s political landscape. You were brilliant and so graceful. I believe that you danced in an absolutely Argentinian style," Putin stressed. Read more
