Russia, Azerbaijan defence ministers discuss military ties

KUBINKA (Moscow region), August 1. /TASS/. The defence ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan, Sergey Shoigu and Zakir Gasanov met on Saturday to discuss military ties. "I am very glad that you have found time to take part in a ceremony to open the [International] Army Games. I hope your team will show good results," Shoigu said in the opening remarks. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the two ministers exchanged opinions on topical issues of regional security, as well as on prospects for the development of military ties between Russia and Azerbaijan. The first International Army Games involve 57 teams from 17 states and 20 groups of observers from six countries representing Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Overall, more than 2,000 foreign servicemen will take part in the competition. The games will run from August 1 to August 15. Read more
