Russia-China cooperation steps up regardless of Western sanctions - Russian diplomat

BEIJING, December 29. /TASS/. Cooperation between Russia and China steps up regardless of the anti-Russian sanctions, Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov told TASS on Monday. “We can say it is not yesterday that our relations started stepping up. Moreover, not due to the geopolitical complications that we’ve witnessed this year. Primarily, I mean the sanction policy against Russia,” Denisov said. “The Russian and Chinese leaders’ policy towards strengthening cooperation was determined long ago and realised consistently. This policy is not linked to the sanctions and the current political cataclysms. The sanctions against Russia only prove the right choice to strengthen strategic relations with China, including in practical fields,” he said. The aggravation of geopolitical confrontation in the expiring year “determined growing demand for the quality of relations with the Chinese neighbour”, Denisov said. “Being sovereign in their policy and decisions, both countries withstood this test,” he said. “We watch the West’s attempts to draw China in a senseless, disgraceful and humiliating sanction war with Russia. But our partner categorically come against this and Russia praises this policy,” Denisov said. Read more
