Russia, China sign contract on supply of anti-ship missile systems - Shoigu

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russia and China have concluded agreements on the supply of S-400 air defense systems and Sukhoi-35 fighter jets, as well as anti-ship missile systems, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday. "Russian-Chinese military-technical cooperation has been developing positively. Contacts have been concluded for selling to China S-400 air defense systems, multirole fighters Sukhoi-35 and anti-ship systems," Shoigu said at the opening of the second national youth forum International Military-Political and Military-Economic Cooperation: Modern Trends at the MIGIMO University. China, he said, is Russia’s strategic partner and bilateral cooperation with it is developing actively. "First and foremost it is geared to the struggle against international terrorism. Military exercises Joint Sea and Peace Mission exercises are held regularly to practice cooperation. Russia keeps training personnel for the Chinese army. "More than 3,600 Chinese military servicemen have undergone instruction at the Russian Defense Ministry’s academies," he said. As it was reported earlier, China had become the first foreign buyer of the newest air defense systems S-400 and Sukhoi-35 jets. The air defense systems will be provided no earlier than 2018. The first batch of four planes, according to a TASS source in the military-technical cooperation sphere, has already been delivered to China. Read more
