Russia to deliver humanitarian aid to Syria

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russia's Emergencies Ministry has sent an Il-76 cargo aircraft to Syria to deliver humanitarian aid and bring some 50 Russian and CIS nationals to Moscow, the ministry's press service said on Thursday. The aircraft will deliver to the city of Latakia a 20.5-ton humanitarian cargo , including "sugar, milk, canned meat and fish and essentials," the press service said. "The return flight from Latakia will take to Moscow some 50 Russian and CIS nationals who decided to leave the conflict zone," the press service said. The humanitarian operation will help ease tensions among Syria's population and refugees, the press service added. Read more
