Russia to demonstrate conventional submarine projects at India’s arms show

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will demonstrate five projects of conventional submarines of various classes and water displacement, including a submarine equipped with the air-independent propulsion system, at the Defexpo India 2018 arms show, the USC press office told TASS on Wednesday. The land, naval and internal homeland security systems exhibition Defexpo India runs in Chennai, India, on April 11-14. "The Project 636 submarine with the Club-S missile system, the conventional submarine Amur-1650 with the air-independent propulsion power plant, the P-650 small coastal submarine, the Piranya-T small coastal submarine, the Project 877 EKM diesel-electric submarine," the USC said, responding to the corresponding question. The Project 877 and Project 636 diesel-electric submarines, and also Amur-1650 underwater cruisers were developed by the Rubin Central Design Bureau while small sabotage submarines (P-650 and Piranya-T) were created by the Malakhit Design Bureau. The exhibition’s participants and guests will also be able to view Russia’s Project 11356 frigates and Project 20382 Tigr corvettes. The Russian shipbuilders have also brought to India the mockup of the oceanic patrol vessel Gepard-5.1 created on the basis of the Project 11661 guard ship, and the Project 21635 Sarsar warship (a follow-up of the Buyan-M corvettes that have proven their worth). A trawler, a large amphibious assault ship, a rescue vessel and a patrol ship will also be featured at India’s arms show. "Companies within the USC are designing and building patrol, amphibious assault ships and boats of more than ten projects that are of interest for foreign, including Indian customers. The USC is ready under the guidance of [Russian state arms seller] Rosoboronexport to take part in their promotion to the Indian market," the corporation said. Russian shipbuilders are also offering their Indian partners various civil projects: dredgers and passenger vessels, including cruisers, as well as tankers and dry cargo ships. Russia to showcase frigates and T-90 tanks at India’s arms exhibition Russia will demonstrate over 230 weapon systems at the Defexpo India 2018 arms exhibition, including T-90 tanks and Project 11356 frigates, the press office of Russia’s state arms seller Rosoboronexport reported on Tuesday. "Rosoboronexport’s stand will feature over 230 items of Russia’s armament and military hardware offered by the company for export," the Rosoboronexport press office said in a statement. Russia’s T-90S and T-90MS tanks, the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system, Kornet-E and Kornet-EM anti-tank missile complexes and also Kalashnikov assault rifles of the latest modifications hold the greatest prospects for land troops on the arms markets of India and South-East Asian countries among Rosoboronexport’s weapon systems showcased at the exhibition, the press office reported. "Besides, foreign customers in the region display interest in Russian-made air defense missile systems. Representatives of the armed forces in the region are expected to show interest in the Pantsyr-S1 air defense missile/gun complex and the Tor-M2E surface-to-air missile system," Rosoboronexport noted. In the segment of naval hardware, Rosoboronexport expects prospective foreign buyers to show great interest in the Project 11356 frigate and patrol vessels based on Project 11661, the Project 12701 Aleksandrit-E mine countermeasures ship, the Project 21301 rescue vessel, and also the Project 636 large diesel electric submarine and the Amur-1650 diesel electric submarine. Russian defense firm to showcase S-400, Tor missile systems at India’s arms exhibition Russia’s Almaz-Antey Group will showcase S-400, Tor and Buk air defense missile systems at India’s Defexpo-2018 arms exhibition, the company’s press office reported on Monday. "Defense products in the form of mockups and models enjoying demand in countries of the Asia-Pacific Region will be on display: ground-based and seaborne air defense missile systems, including the S-400 Triumf, the S-300VM Antey-2500, the Tor-M2E, the Tor-M2K, the Tor-M2KM, the Buk-M2E, the Osa-AKM1, Rif-M, Shtil-1 and the Tunguska-M1 surface-to-air missile/gun complex, the press office said. "Our participation in this event is aimed at boosting the image of the company as a reliable supplier of exclusive defense products, and also at expanding the group of potential customers among countries of the south-eastern region," Almaz-Antey Deputy CEO for Foreign Economic Operations Vyacheslav Dzirkaln was quoted by the press office as saying. During the arms exhibition, Almaz-Antey officials plan to hold a number of meetings and negotiations with representatives of government and business structures of India and other countries. The S-400 Triumf is the most advanced long-range air defense missile system that went into service in Russia in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and can also be used against ground objectives. The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km. Russian Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Gumyonny said in April last year that the troops started to receive missiles for S-400 systems capable of destroying targets in outer space. The Tor-M2 air defense missile system is an effective means to hit aircraft, helicopters, aerodynamic unmanned aerial vehicles, missiles and also other precision weapons flying at medium, low and extremely low altitudes in an adverse air and jamming environment. The Tor-M2 is characterized by its high maneuverability, mobility, quick response, automation of combat operations and the efficiency of engaging a broad range of targets. The Buk-M3 is the latest of the family of Buk medium-range surface-to-air missile systems. Read more
