Russia, Egypt resume talks on tourism cooperation

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) has resumed talks with Egypt on the issue of cooperation between the 2 countries in the tourism industry, the agency reported on Thursday. "On February 3, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Oleg Safonov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia Mohammed al-Badri had a meeting at Rostourim at the initiative of the Egyptian side. The meeting focused on the issues related to cooperation of the 2 countries in the tourist industry," the report said. Russia suspended flights to Egypt after A321 passenger aircraft crashed over the Sinai Peninsula on October 31, 2015 killing all 224 people onboard, while around 79,000 Russians were urgently returned from Egyptian resorts. According to the data provided by Rostourism, Egypt is among top most popular foreign travel destinations for Russian tourists. In 9 months of 2015 almost 2 mln Russian nationals visited the country.
